Urgent Measure Request Filed to ECHR in Gagik Khachatryan's Case: Defenders
An urgent measure request has been submitted to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in the case of Gagik Khachatryan, who has lost 66% of his functionality. This was announced by Khachatryan's defenders, Yerem Sargsyan and Ara Ghazaryan, during a press conference.
Ara Ghazaryan stated that they are demanding the immediate release of Khachatryan from custody and to cease the degrading practice of transferring him from the investigative body to a hospital and then back home and to court. "You might not know this, but this has been ongoing for several years, and the family did not want to make it public," said Ara Ghazaryan, adding that a third request is to allow Gagik Khachatryan to travel to Germany for treatment, as there has been a medical recommendation for this for the past seven years, since 2019.
It is noteworthy that the Anti-Corruption Court, presided over by Judge Aram Grigoryan, decided on September 2, 2026, to detain the former head of the State Revenue Committee, Gagik Khachatryan, for two months. The Investigative Committee reported on September 1, 2026, that urgent investigative and prosecutorial actions were carried out concerning Gagik Khachatryan, his son’s residences, and around 21 companies connected to them within the framework of a criminal case initiated on receiving large-scale bribery and money laundering.
