New Escalation of Military Actions in Iran
On the third day of resumed military operations against Iran, the United States has announced strikes on nearly 100 targets. These include positions of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) air defense, tracking systems, naval bases, and communication means. Iran has reported at least 7 soldiers and 11 civilians dead.
The strikes were in response to recent attempts by the IRGC to attack civilian ships and US military personnel in the Strait of Hormuz, CENTCOM stated, adding that currently more than 50,000 American soldiers are operating in the Middle East.
After the US attacks on September 2, according to a post on the IRGC's Telegram channel, the Iranian military targeted American military positions in Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan, and Bahrain. The IRGC reported that drone and missile strikes successfully hit the command center and residence at a Kuwaiti airbase, as well as the drone hangars and their launch sites.
On the same day, two tankers traversing the Strait of Hormuz struck underwater mines, resulting in explosions that ignited fires on the vessels, which subsequently lost control. This was reported by Press TV, citing an IRGC statement. The media clarified that the crews of the vessels were following US orders and traveling on their own route, rather than the path designated by Iran.
