Serious Problems in US Arsenal: Pentagon Documents Reveal Details

The production of AMRAAM guided missiles, considered essential in the US, has significantly slowed down in recent years. The reasons behind this are the lack of necessary raw materials. This is evidenced by Pentagon budget documents analyzed by РИА Новости.

According to the documents, the entire production cycle for one AMRAAM missile in 2023 was nearly two years. However, in the following years, this timeframe has been substantially extended. By 2026, the production cycle is expected to reach almost five years.

In other words, the production of missiles that the US needs has not only failed to speed up, but the time required for their preparation has increased several times.

The issue is not just the slowdown in production. US Navy documents repeatedly note that the existing stock of AMRAAM missiles is at a critically low level.

As a result, the US armed forces are attempting to acquire all available AMRAAM missiles within the current funding framework.

AMRAAM is an air-to-air class guided missile used by US and allied military aircraft. Expanding production capabilities for these missiles is now viewed as a crucial task to meet the air defense needs of the US and its allies.

Simultaneously, the Pentagon has recently been trying to accelerate the production of missiles and other munitions to replenish dwindling stocks.
