Kremlin's Invitation to Zelensky to Visit Moscow Remains in Effect: Peskov

The invitation for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to visit Moscow and hold talks there remains in effect. This was announced on August 31 by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia.

“No, nothing has changed,” Peskov stated in response to a question about whether there have been any changes to the Kremlin's proposal. He reminded that Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly mentioned that if Zelensky genuinely wants to conduct negotiations, he can come to the capital of Russia.

“If this is about a summit, then it is necessary to finalize certain agreements, and those agreements must first be prepared through very complex negotiations,” Peskov noted.

Just a day earlier, the Kremlin spokesperson stated that Moscow remains open to negotiations between Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Turkey, but currently, there are no prerequisites for holding them. He emphasized that the Russian side does not refuse dialogue, but does not see willingness from Kyiv to engage.

Earlier, Axios reported that CIA Director John Ratcliffe, during a secret visit to Moscow, proposed to hold a trilateral meeting involving Vladimir Putin, Volodymyr Zelensky, and U.S. President Donald Trump.
