Two Individuals Detained During Demolition of Illegal Structures in Aeratsia
Two citizens detained during the planned demolition of four illegal structures in the Aeratsia district of Yerevan have been arrested, according to the Investigative Committee of Armenia, as reported by Auroranews.am.
It was previously reported that a tense situation arose in Aeratsia today when municipal employees, accompanied by police officers, arrived to dismantle four constructions. A scuffle occurred between residents and law enforcement, during which one of the residents broke a police vehicle's window. Both he and another individual were detained.
After some time, city employees and the equipment brought for the demolition left the area. The Investigative Committee announced that 'a criminal case has been initiated on the grounds of interference with the lawful activities of a public official.'
It should also be noted that Auroranews.am contacted Romik Mkhitaryan, the head of the Shengavit administrative district. He stated that the demolition of the illegal structures might be temporarily postponed, and additional time will be given to residents to resolve their housing issues.
