The number of missing persons related to the conflict in Ukraine, as reported by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), has reached 266,000. This information was conveyed to "RIA Novosti" by the organization.

As of the end of July, families that have contacted the ICRC are searching for 266,000 missing individuals on both sides, including both military personnel and civilians, the organization's press service reported.

The Red Cross opened a central search agency office in Geneva in March 2022 to handle issues related to the international conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The office serves as a neutral mediator between the parties to the conflict and collects, organizes, and transmits information about the fate and whereabouts of military and civilian personnel who are missing or separated from their families.
