The Constitutional Council of France has rejected the law proposed by President Emmanuel Macron, which aimed to ban access to social networks for individuals under the age of 15.

The court ruled that a blanket ban would violate the freedom of speech of adolescents, as well as the right to privacy, since all users would have to undergo identification to verify their age.

The law was scheduled to come into effect in September, blocking access to platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and even WhatsApp. Now, the government must urgently develop a new, legally sound version of the law.
