Ukrainian Strike Damages Samara's Industrial Infrastructure
The Ukrainian armed forces have launched a missile strike on an industrial facility located in Russia's Samara region. This was reported on August 15 by the region's governor, Vyacheslav Fedorishchev.
According to him, the Samara region has been subjected to a massive attack, resulting in damage to certain segments of the industrial infrastructure in Samara. An emergency response team has been created, and medical assistance has been provided to those affected.
Ukrainian sources indicate that the target of the strike may have been one of Russia's major enterprises in the rocket and space industry, the Progress Rocket Space Center, which manufactures carrier rockets and spacecraft. Nearby is also the AviaKor factory, where Russian aircraft are repaired and modernized.
According to OSINT analysis published by Astra, a fire broke out in one of the workshops belonging to the Progress center or in the adjacent aviation factory area.
On the same night, there were also reports of drone attacks in the Moscow region. Governor Andrey Vorobyov stated that in Domodedovo, a drone struck a private house, injuring a 55-year-old woman and a 9-year-old child. The child's condition is reported to be serious.
On the night of August 15, attacks were also reported in the Penza, Yaroslavl, and Rostov regions, as well as in the Crimea, annexed by Russia.
In the Penza region, according to local authorities, a fire broke out at an agricultural enterprise in the industrial area due to a drone strike. The fire has been extinguished, and there are no casualties or injuries.
Yaroslavl region governor Mikhail Yevraev reported that five drones were shot down, noting that there were no casualties or damage to facilities.
In Rostov, authorities stated that air defense forces destroyed about a dozen drones and missiles in three districts. In the Millerovsky district, power lines were damaged, leaving around 1,000 residents in seven localities without electricity.
Furthermore, Mikhail Razvozhayev, the Russia-appointed governor in Sevastopol, also reported the shooting down of five drones.
