Hormuz Cannot Be Captured by Tweet, Aircraft Carrier, or Command: Iran's Response to Trump
Iran has responded to U.S. President Donald Trump's statement that he intends to declare the Strait of Hormuz "very soon" as U.S. territory.
Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi stated on his X page that the Strait of Hormuz cannot be seized through threats or demonstrations of force.
"Hormuz cannot be captured by tweet, aircraft carrier, command, or even a campaign speech," wrote the Iranian diplomat.
According to Gharibabadi, the United States must acknowledge its strategic defeats in the confrontation with Iran.
"Iran is not afraid of threats and cannot be intimidated by shows of force," he noted.
The Deputy Foreign Minister also asserted that the Strait of Hormuz has belonged to Iran and will continue to do so.
"The Strait of Hormuz was Iran's, is, and will remain Iran's. This strait will be closed and opened only by Iran's command, and as long as you do not accept the reality of your defeat and do not abandon your delusions, Iran will continue to blockade Hormuz," Gharibabadi stated.
Earlier, Trump claimed that U.S. naval forces had completely blockaded the Strait of Hormuz. "After completely defeating Iran, I will very soon declare the Strait of Hormuz as U.S. territory," said the U.S. President.
Iranian officials have repeatedly stated that the strait will not be reopened as long as the United States continues its interference in the region, maintains its maritime blockade, and does not fulfill the requirements of the framework agreement reached between Tehran and Washington in June.
The spokesperson of Iran's highest military body, the Central Headquarters of Khatam al-Anbia, Ibrahim Zolfaghari, also refuted Trump's claim of U.S. "complete control" over Hormuz. "No ship will be allowed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz without Iran's permission and control," he declared.
