On August 11, a Russian ballistic strike on the Zaporizhzhia industrial zone resulted in the deaths of seven employees of the 'Zaporizhstal' enterprise, while another 21 were injured. This information was reported by the 'Metinvest' group.

According to the company's statement, the strike damaged the energy units and infrastructure of enterprises located in Zaporizhzhia, as well as the main and auxiliary capacities of coke and blast furnace productions. The operations of the 'Zaporizhstal' metallurgical complex have been completely halted, while other production platforms are operating at reduced capacity.

According to 'Metinvest', the ballistic strike occurred immediately following an air raid alert, at a time when employees were moving towards the shelter. Currently, specialists are evaluating the consequences of the strike and the possible timelines for the recovery of production. Emergency recovery works are also being conducted.

On August 11 and 12, flags at 'Metinvest' enterprises were flown at half-mast in memory of the deceased employees. According to the company's second-quarter report, approximately 8,750 people are employed at 'Zaporizhstal'.
