The National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia has summarized the results of its activities for the first half of 2026, revealing that 573 criminal cases were initiated during the reporting period.

According to the NSS, intelligence, sabotage, and terrorist plans aimed at the security, sovereignty, and armed forces of the state have been identified and thwarted, alongside actions by groups seeking to violently overthrow the constitutional order and seize power.

A total of 22 criminal cases have been initiated based on crimes directed against state security. These includes cases of state treason, espionage, the disclosure of state secrets, and preparation for the overthrow of the constitutional order.

44 cases have been initiated concerning public safety, which include preparations for terrorism, false reports of terrorism, and matters related to criminal subcultures.

In relation to the protection of the state border, criminal proceedings have been initiated based on identified violations, with 197 cases largely concerning illegal border crossings and the use of false documents.

There have been 44 criminal cases initiated concerning the illegal circulation of drugs and smuggling, while 33 cases relate to electoral violations, including electoral bribery.

Furthermore, 115 criminal cases have been initiated based on crimes against public service, property, and economic activities, which include bribery, abuse of official authority, money laundering, and illegal entrepreneurial activities.
