Mané Tandilyan, President of the 'Country of Living' Party, Issues Statement
Mané Tandilyan, the president of the 'Country of Living' party, has issued a statement regarding letters addressed to the leaders of European countries.
"In advance of the European Political Community summit scheduled to take place in Yerevan, I have reached out to the leaders of European countries to draw their attention to the issue of at least 19 Armenian prisoners of war held in Baku. This is not only a humanitarian matter but also a serious challenge to justice and the prospects for sustainable peace in our region.
Since the forced displacement of Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh, we continue to witness deeply concerning developments, including the illegal detention of prisoners, the restriction of their fundamental rights, and the systematic destruction of Armenian cultural heritage.
In this context, I have called upon our European partners to use their influence to:
- Clearly and consistently raise this issue in diplomatic arenas,
- Guarantee access to international humanitarian assistance,
- Ensure the immediate release of Armenian prisoners.
Armenia remains committed to a peace agenda. However, real and lasting peace is not possible without justice. The return of prisoners is not only a humanitarian step but also a necessary prerequisite for restoring trust and achieving sustainable peace," the statement reads.
