Regional Risks Still Persist, Says Macron
French President Emmanuel Macron has positively assessed the establishment of a ceasefire between the United States and Iran, but stated that this step has not yet eliminated regional tensions. He noted that the situation remains particularly sensitive around Lebanon, where the balance of security continues to be vulnerable.
Macron made these statements at the beginning of a consultation focused on defense issues, attended by his advisors and government members. He emphasized that while the ceasefire can be considered a step forward, it does not mean that all existing risks in the region have diminished or disappeared.
According to the French president, any broader political or diplomatic settlement must also take into account the Lebanese factor. He warned that the ongoing instability along the country’s borders could persist if Lebanon remains outside possible agreements.
Macron effectively pointed out that a separate ceasefire is insufficient for the stability of the entire region. He stated that achieving long-term results requires a more comprehensive approach that includes areas where tensions continue to exist.
