Trump Makes Statement on Negotiations with Iran
US President Donald Trump has announced that Washington is engaged in "serious negotiations" with the newly established government in Iran, a process that could lead to the end of American military operations in the country. In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated, "The United States is engaged in serious discussions with a new, more sensible government in Iran to end our military operations there."
He also emphasized that significant progress had been made, but warned that if no agreement is reached soon and if the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, the US would strike Iran's electricity production facilities, oil wells, and the Kharg Island.
Trump further remarked that desalination plants could also become targets, which, according to him, have so far "not been deliberately targeted." He pointed out that these actions would be a response to the killings of American servicemen and others during the recent 47 years of Iran's previous government's "terroristic rule."
