Russia Ready for Negotiations on Its Terms, Medvedev Says
Russia has repeatedly stated that it is ready for peaceful negotiations with Ukraine, but these must be conducted on terms set by Moscow, said Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, in response to a question from RIA Novosti.
"It has been said many times that we are ready for peaceful negotiations; however, they must proceed on the terms established by the Russian Federation," Medvedev stated.
On March 15, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reported that a pause had begun in the negotiations regarding Ukraine, while the United States is focusing on other directions. He later noted that Russia is awaiting a new phase of negotiations, but for understandable reasons, the time and place for this have yet to be determined.
Since the beginning of the year, Russian and Ukrainian delegations have held three rounds of negotiations with the participation of the United States. The last round took place in Geneva on February 17-18.
