Kocharian Should Not Speak About Leadership: Simonyan

Robert Kocharian should be able to lead the "Hayastan" faction. It is clear that the "Hayastan" faction is not led by him. The Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun) has taken power there. This was stated by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, during a parliamentary briefing.

“I understand that many have forgotten what Kocharian did during his years in power, but he of all people should not speak about leadership. He has other concerns to worry about—whether he will cross the threshold with the Dashnaktsutyun in the next parliamentary elections and end up in the parliament, or if all the opposition resources in the field will be taken by other parties,” said Alen Simonyan.

According to data held by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Kocharian definitely has such a problem. “Today, it is clear that in the upcoming elections, the lion's share of that 21 percent will no longer give votes to Kocharian; they will vote for another opposition party. That is why he is holding a press conference and presenting himself as a candidate for Prime Minister, but he has an issue of passing into the parliament, so he should focus on that,” Simonyan added.
