The ‘Trrip’ Route Should Not Be Used Against Iran, Says Ambassador
The ‘Trrip’ route, which can create opportunities for connectivity for Armenia, should not be used by outsiders against Iran. This statement was made during a press conference by the Iranian ambassador to Armenia, Khalil Shirgolemi.
"The concept of a corridor implies certain concessions on sovereignty, which is unacceptable for both Armenia and Iran," he noted.
Addressing the question of whether the discussion pertains to a corridor or merely a passage, Khalil Shirgolemi indicated that their positions align with those of the Republic of Armenia.
Speaking about Iran’s concerns within the framework of Armenia-U.S. relations, the ambassador emphasized that discussions related to the ‘Trrip’ direction have taken place with Armenian officials and have consistently highlighted the need to follow the path outlined by the leaders of the two countries.
"We have reaffirmed our support for the project called ‘Peace Interchange’ if it can secure Armenia's interests. Armenian authorities have always assured us that under no circumstances will this route acquire military or security implications, and Armenia's sovereignty will be maintained along this route. We do not wish to engage in speculation about whether the U.S. has plans in this regard or not. There exists confidence between us and Armenia," the ambassador remarked.
