We Have No Plans or Programs Regarding the Russian Military Base: Pashinyan
Until 2024, most border checkpoints were under the control of the Russian Federation or the presence of Russian border guards, including at the international airport; now all border checkpoints of the Republic of Armenia are controlled by Armenian border guards.
During a meeting with diplomats and experts in Poland, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Armenia is grateful to the Russian Federation for its support in the 1990s when it lacked sufficient capabilities.
“Of course, we are grateful to the Russian Federation for its presence there. As a newly independent state in the early 1990s, we did not have the capability to provide those kinds of services, but now we can and are developing our capabilities. As for the Russian military base, we have no plans or programs, nor do we have concerns regarding the presence of the Russian military base,” the Prime Minister noted, emphasizing that Armenia is a close partner of Russia.
