Operational Measures Taken Before Gunfire Incident, No Weapons Found: Hetq
According to "Hetq," around a month ago, employees of the Criminal Police detained more than 30 individuals and conducted searches at police stations. This group included participants from the well-known Ajapnyak incident. Approximately 10 of these individuals were taken to the police, including the person who fired shots a few days ago. However, no prohibited items were discovered.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed this information. “Operational work is regularly conducted among such individuals, and explanatory work is carried out if there are certain operational data. Yes, operational work was conducted among the persons you mentioned, and searches were carried out, but no weapons or ammunition were found at that time,” stated the press secretary of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Narek Sargsyan.
It should be noted that on February 18, 2026, a person was killed using a firearm on Abelyan Street in the Ajapnyak administrative district of Yerevan, while seven others sustained gunshot wounds, which have been assessed as an attempted murder. A criminal case has been initiated in the Investigative Committee’s division for serious crimes in Yerevan. As a result of investigative and procedural actions, several individuals involved in the armed incident have been identified. Public criminal prosecution has been initiated against 11 individuals. Simultaneous searches were conducted at more than 40 addresses in Yerevan, and items of significance to the investigation were discovered.
