Adequate Response to Threats is Essential: Russian Defense Minister to CSTO Secretary
A meeting took place in Moscow between the CSTO Secretary General, Taalaatbek Masadikov, and the Defense Minister of Russia, Andrey Belousov, who is the chair of the CSTO Defense Ministers Council. The interlocutors exchanged views on issues related to the organization's policies and security within its area of responsibility, and they thoroughly discussed the strengthening of the CSTO's military capabilities, as reported by the organization's press service.
Taalaatbek Masadikov informed Andrey Belousov about the progress in implementing the joint preparation measures planned for this year. During the meeting, they also discussed Russia's approaches to implementing the priorities of the Russian presidency in the CSTO for 2026.
“In the context of a complex geopolitical situation, it is crucial to continue working towards ensuring the organization's readiness to respond adequately to emerging challenges and threats,” emphasized the Russian Defense Minister.
Andrey Belousov also congratulated Taalaatbek Masadikov on his appointment as the CSTO Secretary General and expressed confidence that his leadership will contribute to the further strengthening of the organization.
