Russia Develops New Weapon Against Starlink Satellites: Intelligence Report

According to the Associated Press, NATO countries' intelligence services are concerned about Russia's new anti-satellite program. Russia may be developing a new type of anti-satellite weapon aimed at destroying or disabling the Starlink satellite system.

The report states that two western intelligence agencies suspect Moscow is working on a so-called "zone of influence" weapon designed to create destructive debris clouds in orbit. Such a mechanism could simultaneously damage or disable multiple satellites within the Starlink system.

Intelligence data suggests that the weapon could flood Starlink's orbits with hundreds of thousands of high-density metallic pellets (granules). These could cause significant harm to the technology upon collision with satellites. Meanwhile, experts warn that such an action could also lead to widespread and unpredictable consequences, endangering other countries' and companies' orbital systems.
