Hungary Will Not Give Up Russian Oil: We Oppose EU Plan, Says Szijjártó
Hungary does not support the European Union's initiative to halt the import of Russian natural gas and oil. This was announced by Hungary's Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, as reported by RIA Novosti.
He noted that Budapest is prepared to file a complaint with the EU court after the final vote in Brussels. According to Szijjártó, the necessary legal preparatory work has already commenced.
The minister emphasized that the issue pertains to energy carriers imported from Russia, for which the European Union is discussing the possibility of imposing a ban.
Szijjártó also informed that he has consulted with his Slovak counterpart on this topic. The two sides agreed to coordinate their legal actions and jointly present their position to the EU court if the initiative is adopted.
