Tense Situation in Mrjavank: Protest Expected Over Mayor's Murder Case
The president of the "Living Country" party, Mane Tandilyan, has confirmed that a protest by residents is expected in Mrjavank in the coming days concerning the failure to solve the murder of Mayor Volodya Grigoryan, according to Aysor.am.
Tandilyan noted that the tension is due to the lack of resolution in the case of Mayor Volodya Grigoryan's murder, with citizens demanding a full disclosure of the investigation.
Regarding the possible return of the Akhtoyan family and the tension that may follow, Tandilyan stated that she has no information. She emphasized that the perpetrator did not act alone: "They had supporters, encouragers, guarantors, and presumably even organizers. Numerous questions remain unanswered, and this is the reason that citizens cannot feel at ease in Parakar, as such a crime must not go unpunished."
It is important to note that Volodya Grigoryan, the head of the Parakar community, was killed on September 23. Narek Ohanyan has been arrested on charges of assisting in the murder; he is the son of the aunt of former CPP leader Mher Akhtoyan. Following the incident, the Akhtoyan family left Mrjavank, while villagers began a petition demanding their expulsion.
Earlier, in February, a group fight occurred near an office adjacent to Mher Akhtoyan's house, during which his cousin, Grigor Akhtoyan, who is Narek Ohanyan's brother, was killed. According to the official version, the murder of Volodya Grigoryan is connected to this incident, but this theory is not universally accepted by the public.
