Protest in Mrjavank: Residents Demand that the Akhtoyans Leave the Community

Residents of Mrjavank are demanding that the Akhtoyan family leave the community. “This virus needs to be cut off completely; I have a young son and we want to live peacefully. As long as this family is here, we cannot live in peace,” said one resident in an interview with NEWS.

According to the residents of Mrjavank, the presence of the police is not enough; the family affiliated with the ruling party must leave. “The Akhtoyans need to be driven out of our village,” says a local woman, referring to the former village chief, Mher Akhtoyan. “We are tired of them and want to live in peace. They create problems, it’s a tense situation, and they might cause trouble for young people again. If your child comes home five minutes late, your heart races, fearing something might happen to them. We want the Akhtoyans to leave the village, those connected to the murder of Valodia Grigoryan must go to end the continuous issues. They are poisoning their children with negativity,” the women of Mrjavank express.

Currently, the residents of Mrjavank are conducting a petition to demand the eviction of the Akhtoyans from the village.
