Secretaries General of CSTO, CIS, and SCO Sign Cooperation Development Roadmap
The 13th meeting of the high-ranking officials of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) took place in Beijing on September 3, within the framework of the SCO Heads of State Council meeting and the SCO Plus format. This was reported by the CSTO press service to BELTA.
The meeting was attended by CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov, CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev, and SCO Secretary General Nurlybek Yermeqbaev.
“A discussion took place in a friendly atmosphere regarding current issues in the international situation, as well as priority areas of activity for the three organizations. Proposals were made on further development and strengthening of cooperation in the field of regional security and on combating new challenges and threats. There was a unanimous opinion that the CSTO, CIS, and SCO are called to play an increasingly growing role in maintaining global peace and regional security and in preventing instability,” the press service stated.
The parties noted their focus on the formation of a new Eurasian security architecture, the development of economic cooperation, and the advancement of cultural interactions. “The intention to coordinate integration projects and harmonize relations among Eurasian development centers was established,” the press service reported.
The participants of the meeting signed a “roadmap” for the development of cooperation among the CSTO, CIS, and SCO, as well as a joint statement by the Secretaries General of the CSTO, CIS, and SCO on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations.
