Belarus Discusses Imposing Martial Law in the Country
Belarus is considering the introduction of martial law due to the ongoing war in Ukraine involving Russia. A corresponding draft bill has been developed by the Ministry of Defense of Belarus and has already been sent to the lower house of the country's parliament for discussion.
The document specifically proposes the possibility of imposing martial law in response to 'armed aggression' against the Union State, which has been recognized as the Russian Federation since 1999. This means that if the bill is passed, martial law could be imposed in Belarus in the event of, for example, a Ukrainian drone strike on Russian territory.
