Russia is the guarantor of Belarus's security: Lukashenko
Russia is the guarantor of Belarus’s security. This was stated by the President of the Republic, Alexander Lukashenko, during a meeting with the heads of Belarusian diplomatic missions, as reported by TASS.
“I am not even talking about military-political cooperation with the Russian Federation. Especially in the military sector. If we had not resisted in 2020, we know what would have happened. If Russia had not supported us during these difficult times, starting from conventional and nuclear weapons, it is hard to imagine what today would have looked like. We would probably be face to face with NATO in the West,” emphasized the Belarusian leader.
Lukashenko also rejected assumptions that Belarus’s multi-vector policy could harm relations with the country’s main partners, Russia and China. “This is not the case. You must remember, at least while I am president, the axiom: for us, there can be nothing closer than Russia and the Russian people,” concluded the Belarusian leader.
