Israel and Syria Reach Ceasefire Agreement
After bloody and large-scale clashes, Israel and Syria have reached a ceasefire agreement in the As-Suwayda province. U.S. Ambassador to Turkey, Tom Barak, announced that the parties have come to an agreement with the support of the United States, Turkey, Jordan, and other countries in the Middle East.
"We call on the Druze, Bedouins, and Sunnis to lay down their arms and build a new and unified Syrian identity alongside other minorities," he wrote on X social media.
Clashes had begun in mid-July between Bedouin militia and Druze armed groups in Syria's As-Suwayda province. In response, the Syrian government deployed troops to the region. Israel had protected the Druze community and carried out strikes against Damascus.
