New Decision Adopted for Importing Various Products from Iran to Armenia
New tariff quotas have been set for a certain quantity of various agricultural products imported from Iran to Armenia during 2025. This decision was made during the meeting of the Armenian government.
The quotas are intended for the import of poultry meat and its by-products, potatoes, tomatoes, apples, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, leaf beet, carrots, turnips, table beets, radishes, root celery, turnips, cucumbers, and small cucumbers.
The decision states that the agreement on free trade between the Eurasian Economic Union and its member states, and the Islamic Republic of Iran entered into force on May 15, 2025, which regulates the allocation of these quotas.
According to the decision, the import of certain types of goods of Iranian origin from Iran is permitted at a 0% import duty rate, provided that a license is obtained. The aim is to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Eurasian Economic Union decisions and to improve the business environment.
The decision also mentions that the allowable volume of imported goods is distributed according to historical and non-historical buyers. Trade relations with Iran are considered historical based on the average volume of the same goods imported from Iran to Armenia over the past three years.
As such, a quota is established for the aforementioned goods imported from Iran, set at 75% of the total allowable import volume (for non-historical buyers, the allowable total volume is 25%).
