Traffic Changes in Yerevan's City Center
A mobility concept is being developed for Yerevan's city center. The head of the Transport Department, Vazgen Harutyunyan, stated, "As a first step toward changes, restrictions are proposed on Abovyan, Nalbandyan, and Arami streets adjacent to the Republic Square." In addition to expanding dedicated bus lanes, the plan will include several streets where traffic restrictions will be implemented, transforming them into pedestrian areas.
It is expected that the dedicated bus lane newly installed on Mashtots Boulevard will provide a connection to Khorenatsi Street, allowing buses to make a left turn onto Khorenatsi Street. Dedicated bus lanes will also be implemented on Khorenatsi Street in both directions, along with parking restrictions. "It is a crucial conceptual issue to increase pedestrian zones," noted Avinyan.
