We Expect That Armenia Will Not Allow Its Country to Be Used to Open a 'Second Front' Against Russia: Kopirkin
The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Armenia, Sergey Kopirkin, gave an interview to the '168 Hours' newspaper.
'I will start with the basics: Armenia is our close ally and a key economic partner in the South Caucasus. This multifaceted bilateral connection needs to be tirelessly strengthened and updated, adapting to the rapidly changing realities in the region and the world. Armenian-Russian relations are in a phase of maturation. These processes are complex, but the main thing is that Moscow and Yerevan mutually strive to overcome all emerging difficulties in a partnership and allied manner through open and reliable dialogue at all levels.
Regarding the challenges, I must emphasize the fact that there are blatant and gross attempts to 'drive a wedge between' our countries. Various political manipulations, informational actions, blatant lies, and slander are being employed to solve this undesirable task. Who is behind this is well known, as is their obsession with seeing 'Russia's strategic defeat.' We place our hopes on the wisdom of the Armenian people, who understand very well who their true friend is and who their enemy is.
As a sovereign country, Armenia undoubtedly has every right to develop relationships with anyone it chooses. However, we prudently expect that our Armenian allies will not allow the anti-Russian forces in the West to use their great country to open a 'second front' against Russia in the region, nor disrupt their participation in the dynamically developing processes of Eurasian integration,' the ambassador stated.
