EU Commission's Warning to Vucic
The European Commission has warned Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic that his planned visit to Moscow for the May 9 celebrations could complicate Serbia's negotiations for EU membership. This was announced by EU Enlargement Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi.
The EU maintains the position that candidate countries should not maintain close ties with Russia as if nothing has happened. The European Commission expects Serbia to reaffirm its strategic priorities.
Additionally, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell had warned candidate countries of the union not to attend the Victory Day celebrations in Moscow, cautioning that such a move would be taken very seriously.
