Daily Losses of Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine
The Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine is incurring losses of approximately 400 million drams per day. The company attributed this to the "actions of a group of illegal employees," in response to media inquiries regarding financial damages.
About 200 employees of the combine have been on strike since January 31, demanding higher wages. The management of the combine has issued a statement indicating that they will take strict measures if the workers do not end the strike.
The Minister of Economy of Armenia, Gevorg Papoyan, stated that despite the government holding a 22% stake in the company, the resolution of the strike at ZCMC is not within their jurisdiction, though the government is concerned about the situation.
