New Details from the Controversial Republic Square Video
On January 30 this year, a video featuring a group of citizens from the Islamic Republic of Iran was circulated on the internet, filmed at Republic Square in Yerevan. Following comprehensive operational-investigative measures taken by the National Security Service of Armenia, factual data emerged indicating that the widely circulated video was published by G.B., the head of the independent think tank "Center for Strategic Research," on an identical Facebook account. Along with the video, G.B. used information and communication technologies to incite hate and intolerance against individuals or groups, driven by political and social circumstances.
As a result of the extensive operational-investigative activities, a report has been submitted to the Investigative Committee of Armenia regarding the apparent crime under point 3 of part 2 of article 329 of the RA Criminal Code. It should be noted that the video, which gained significant attention in the evening of January 30, shows a group of individuals singing in Azerbaijani about "Karabakh" in Republic Square. The NSS clarified that the individuals depicted in the video are actually citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
