Syrian President Bashar al-Assad May Have Died in Aircraft Accident: Reuters
There is a significant likelihood that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad could have died in an aircraft accident, Syrian sources have told Reuters. According to them, this could have occurred after his plane took off from Damascus Airport.
Flightradar24 reported that the plane suddenly disappeared from radar. One of the sources cited in the report suggested that the aircraft may have been shot down.
The Syrian Prime Minister had previously stated that he knows nothing about Assad’s whereabouts. They had communicated the day before.
Israeli journalist Barak Ravid, citing sources within the Israeli government, reported that Bashar al-Assad left Damascus around midnight and flew to a Russian base in Syria. It was believed that from there he would head to Moscow. The United States also believes that Assad planned to flee to Moscow.
