Photos: Russia Enhances Shahed Kamikaze Drones with Starlink Satellite Communication
Russia has equipped its Shahed kamikaze drones with Starlink satellite communication. This development enables Russia to utilize unmanned aerial vehicles for reconnaissance purposes. This information was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing Defense Express and Andrey Kovalentko, head of the center for combating disinformation on Telegram.
The publication asserts that one of the drones launched by Russia over Ukrainian territory last night was equipped with Starlink. It was shot down by Ukrainian soldiers. Journalists showcased corresponding photographs that reveal a satellite antenna, which bears a serial number that will help trace how the terminal reached Russia.
"This provides a means to receive feedback from the drone and transmit information from it, allowing flight missions to be adjusted from any distance. In other words, transforming a kamikaze drone into a reconnaissance vehicle. Additionally, thanks to Starlink and the installed camera, the Russian Federation can use the Shahed as extremely long-range loitering munitions, capable of conducting additional reconnaissance and engaging moving targets," notes the publication.
