Earthquakes Registered in Armenia Over the Last 6 Days
The Seismological Network of the Territorial Service for Seismic Protection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has reported that no earthquakes of 2-3 magnitude or higher were recorded in the territory of Armenia from August 22 to 28. According to the information provided by the Territorial Service for Seismic Protection, six earthquakes of 3 magnitude and above were registered in the region.
On August 22, an earthquake of 4 magnitude occurred in Iran, 27 km southeast of the city of Khoi. On August 23, Turkey experienced a 3-4 magnitude earthquake, located 17 km southeast of the city of Ardahan. On August 26, a 3 magnitude earthquake was recorded in the border area between Georgia and Armenia, 11 km southwest of the village of Sadakhlo. Another 3 magnitude quake was registered on August 27, 12 km northeast of the village of Bavra in the Armenia-Georgia border zone. On the same day, a 3-4 magnitude earthquake occurred 45 km southeast of the town of Gurjaani in Georgia. Lastly, on August 28, an earthquake of 4-5 magnitude was reported 39 km northeast of Khoi, Iran.
In addition, three earthquakes with a magnitude of 6.0 or higher were recorded outside the region. On August 25, seismic events with magnitudes of 6.5 and 6.1 occurred near the town of Pangai in Tonga, located 76 km southwest and 64 km west, respectively. On August 28, a 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck 79 km southwest of the city of Santa Tecla in El Salvador. There have been no casualties or damages reported from these earthquakes.
