France's Foreign Ministry Comments on Granting Citizenship to Pavel Durov
The French Foreign Ministry has expressed concerns regarding the citizenship application of Telegram founder Pavel Durov, according to Le Monde.
As reported, when considering Durov's request, officials in the ministry concluded that granting a passport to such a "notable citizen" would not meet the required conditions.
It was noted that while he has confirmed his proficiency in French, he also needs to demonstrate that he contributes to enhancing "France's influence."
The report mentions that Durov and President Macron have met several times. However, Macron's entourage told the newspaper that there have only been "one or two" meetings.
The French Foreign Ministry did not respond to Le Monde's inquiry regarding Durov's citizenship.
