US Imposes Sanctions on Israeli NGO Due to Situation in West Bank
On Wednesday, the United States included an Israeli non-governmental organization and an individual on its sanctions list, citing their actions as violations of Palestinian rights in the West Bank, the US State Department announced.
“In the context of the United States' efforts to respond to the extreme levels of instability and violence against residents of the West Bank, we are implementing additional sanctions against individuals involved in or providing material support to violence in the region,” the State Department's statement read.
As such, Washington has included the Israeli NGO 'Hashomer Yosher' on its sanctions list, whose employees, according to the US, have prevented 250 Palestinians from returning to their homes. Additionally, sanctions were imposed on the civilian security coordinator of one settlement, Yitzhak Pilant. According to the State Department, Pilant has “committed malicious acts against Palestinians that are beyond his authority.”
