Elon Musk has announced that he is willing to allow Ukraine to use the Starlink satellite to control drones for striking Russian military targets; however, the final decision still lies with the White House, reported the Financial Times.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has requested Musk to permit the use of drones equipped with Starlink terminals to hit Russian military targets located up to 200 km from the border. This specifically relates to launchers for ballistic missiles.

Musk had previously informed Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov that he is ready to grant such permission. The billionaire emphasized that the issue is political in nature and that the ultimate decision should be made by the White House.

Fedorov has declined to disclose details of his conversations with Musk. SpaceX and Musk did not immediately respond to requests for comments from the publication.

The issue concerns the use of Starlink for operating drones capable of striking targets in Russia from outside of Ukraine. However, the possibility of such use depends not only on Musk's stance but also on the decisions of the U.S. administration.
