33 years later, the Russian Investigative Committee has completed its investigation into the murder of singer Igor Talkov. The artist's concert manager, Valery Shlyafman, has been charged with murder committed in a particularly dangerous manner.
Singer and composer Igor Talkov was shot dead on October 6, 1991, in the corridor of his dressing room at the Yubileyny Sports Palace in St. Petersburg. Valery Shlyafman mortally wounded Talkov while attempting to shoot Igor Malakhov, who was the bodyguard of singer Aziza. A fight broke out between Shlyafman and Malakhov during the concert.
Until now, the murder had remained unresolved. At the time law enforcement became seriously interested in him, Shlyafman fled to Israel via Ukraine. Initially, he had been charged in absentia with negligent homicide.
