The leader of the Turkish left-wing Vatan party, Doğu Perinçek, has called for not to be surprised if the plane crash that resulted in the deaths of the Iranian president and foreign minister turns out to be sabotage. This was reported by the Aydınlık newspaper, citing RIA Novosti.

According to the politician, he trusts the Iranian state's claims that it was an accident. “I also think that this is an unfortunate incident, but it wouldn’t be surprising if it turns out to be an assassination,” emphasized Perinçek.

He noted that Iran is one of the leading countries fighting against “American imperialism and Israeli Zionism.” “And this country will become a target for such assassinations,” added the politician.

Earlier, columnist İsmet Özçelik from the Aydınlık newspaper stated that Raissi's death would not affect Iran's foreign policy.
