Inmate at Armavir Penitentiary Attempts Self-Harm

An inmate at the Armavir penitentiary has attempted self-harm. This information was provided to Sputnik Armenia by the Armenian Ministry of Justice’s penitentiary service.

Earlier, media reports indicated that the inmate had attempted suicide.

“On April 10, the condition of one of the inmates at the Armavir penitentiary worsened, and he was transferred to a civilian hospital. Upon medical examination, doctors determined that there was no need for inpatient treatment,” noted the penitentiary service.

Following this, the inmate inflicted self-harm in the hospital yard while in a vehicle transporting inmates.

In connection with the incident, the Armenian Police are preparing materials for investigation.
