Members of the European Parliament have appealed to EU leadership to protect the cultural heritage of Artsakh. The letter, addressed to European Council President Charles Michel, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, was published by MEP Miriam Lexmann.
More than 40 European lawmakers signed the letter. “The Armenian cultural and religious heritage of Nagorno-Karabakh is a fundamental part of our shared European heritage. Therefore, together with the inter-party group of my colleagues in the European Parliament, we call on EU leaders to ensure that the EU takes active steps to protect it,” Lexmann commented on the published letter.
