Georgia Criticizes Ukraine
The Georgian government has expressed concern over the unfriendly actions of the Ukrainian authorities directed against the Georgian people. This was stated in a statement published on the website of the Georgian Cabinet of Ministers. The information was reported by gazeta.ru.
The text of the document states that for the past two years, Georgia has shown solidarity with the Ukrainian state and its people, as well as condemned Russian military aggression, including joining more than 600 resolutions on various platforms supporting Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In this context, the Georgian government noted that the actions of official Kyiv cause disappointment and concern, as they grossly contradict the friendship between the Ukrainian and Georgian peoples.
The Georgian government reminded that recently, among the Ukrainian delegation was Zurab Adeishvili, a former Minister of Justice of Georgia, who has been sentenced in absentia on several criminal charges in his homeland and was holding high-level meetings in Germany and Belgium. Additionally, on March 1, 2022, Kyiv recalled its ambassador from Tbilisi after Georgia refused to join anti-Russian sanctions and send volunteers to Ukraine.
Tbilisi has also accused Kyiv of having an unobjective depiction of the health condition of former Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili, leading to the expulsion of the Georgian ambassador by Ukrainian authorities on July 3, 2023.
Moreover, Georgia is concerned about the fact that not only Adeishvili, who is an advisor to the Ukrainian Prosecutor General, but also former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Giorgi Lortkipanidze, who is also facing a criminal case in his homeland, now occupies the position of Deputy Head of Ukraine's counterintelligence service.
