Biden Urged to Delete His Campaign Account on TikTok
A number of members of the House of Representatives and senators have sent a letter to U.S. President Joe Biden urging him to delete his account on the social media platform TikTok, fearing it poses a threat to national security. The call was published on the website of a Republican congressman.
In early February, President Joe Biden's election campaign opened an account on TikTok. However, due to existing concerns, TikTok is already banned for use on federal-level government devices. Last October, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo stated that the social network definitively poses a risk to national security. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has also previously mentioned that the United States views TikTok as a threat.
