19-Year-Old Aleksandra Grigoryan Becomes European Weightlifting Champion
In the ongoing championship in Sofia, Bulgaria, the 19-year-old Armenian athlete Aleksandra Grigoryan has claimed the title of European champion for the first time in her career, achieving a total lift of 196 kg in the combined event in the 55 kg weight category.
Additionally, in the clean and jerk event, she secured a small gold medal by lifting 115 kg over her head. In the snatch category, Aleksandra lifted 81 kg.
Another representative from Armenia in this weight category, European bronze medalist Izabela Yailyan, finished in 7th place with a total lift of 180 kg.
Tomorrow, February 14, reigning European champion Gor Sahakyan (67 kg) will compete on the platform.
