VIDEO. Despite Numerous Requests, the US Continues to Support Terrorism in the Caucasus: Putin
Despite numerous requests to stop, the United States has continued to support terrorism in the North Caucasus, and even high-level discussions on the matter have not changed the situation. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview with Tucker Carlson, which was published on the Kremlin's website.
“I have repeatedly raised the issue that the United States should not support either separatism or terrorism in the North Caucasus. Nevertheless, they continued to do so. Both political, informational, financial, and military support have been provided by the United States and its satellites to terrorist groups in the Caucasus,” said Putin.
He recalled that he had once raised this issue in a conversation with his counterpart, the President of the United States. “He says, 'It's impossible, do you have evidence?' I said, 'Yes.' I was prepared for that conversation and provided him with the evidence. He looked and you know what he said. I apologize, but that’s how it was, I quote, he said, 'I will deal with them. We waited and waited, there was no response,'” added Putin.
Putin instructed the head of the FSB to approach the CIA and find out whether that conversation yielded any results. “We wrote once, we wrote twice, then we received a response. We have the response in the archive: 'We have worked with the opposition in Russia, we believe this is right and we will continue to work with the opposition.' It’s ridiculous. We understood that no conversation would be possible,” Putin further added.
He clarified that by “opposition,” they meant the separatists and terrorists who have fought against Russia in the Caucasus.
