U.S. Congress Members: "We Must Ensure the Territorial Integrity of Armenia"
Co-chairs of the Armenian Congressional Caucus, Frank Pallone, Gus Bilirakis, Adam Schiff, and David Valadao, have issued a joint statement condemning Aliyev's dangerous rhetoric, which claims rights to Armenian territory and refuses to withdraw troops from the region.
"He (Aliyev) makes hostile statements, using them to justify further mobilization of his army, and then initiates aggressive actions because he believes there will be no consequences. Sadly, the international community has demonstrated through its inaction in recent years that he is correct," the statement reads.
U.S. Representative Frank Pallone also stated on social media: "It is time for us to hold Azerbaijan accountable for its actions against Armenians in the South Caucasus." The co-chairs of the Armenian Congressional Caucus have called on Washington and its regional partners to utilize all diplomatic tools, including sanctions, to guarantee the territorial integrity of Armenia in response to Aliyev's blatant threats.
