Russia Expects Participation of Armenian PM Pashinyan at EAEU Summit

Russia anticipates the participation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in the Eurasian Economic Union's anniversary summit, set to take place in May in Moscow. This was stated by Sergey Kopirkin, the Russian ambassador to Armenia, in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“This year, the Republic of Armenia is presiding over the Eurasian Economic Council. This also implies the exchange of delegations and visits. The anniversary summit of the Eurasian Economic Union is planned for May in Moscow, and of course, the Russian side expects the participation of the leader of the presiding country, Prime Minister Pashinyan,” he noted.

Kopirkin emphasized that high-level reciprocal visits are a common phenomenon in the practice of interstate relations, and this issue has been, is, and will remain on the agenda.

“Let me remind you that just a month ago, here in Yerevan, the next session of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation was held, chaired by the deputy prime ministers of our countries. It involved a considerable number of high-ranking representatives from various agencies of both Russia and Armenia. This was a very important, significant event in our bilateral relations. Of course, the decisions that have been made are important, they will be implemented and, naturally, will require contacts and visits,” Kopirkin stated.

The diplomat also added that there are several invitations for Russian counterparts to participate in significant events planned for 2024. “I won’t list everything now. We are working on this issue. Of course, such exchanges, including high-level visits, are on the agenda,” the ambassador said.
